Echo fell in love with Narcissus, but she was refused. Narcissus told Echo never to fall in love with him. Depressed and heartbroken by the hopeless love, Echo died, leaving “I fall in love with you” echoing in the cave. Nemesis, the god of revenge, determined to punish Narcissus for his coldness by making Narcissus love his own reflection in water. Finding it impossible to get together with his image, Narcissus died with sadness and transformed into a daffodil (水仙花) by the riverside.
