問題詳情:
We all know that volunteering your time to help others is good for the word. But it might be good for your body and brain too. Here are some ways that volunteering can benefit(使……受益)the volunteer.
Benefits to your well-being(幸福)
It’s no secret that doing good things can make you feel good about yourself. According to a study by United Health Group,96% of people who volunteered said that it improved their mood(心情), and 78% of volunteers said that it lowered their stress levels.
Doing good allows people to help improve their communities, and gives them a chance to learn new skills and meet new people---all things that can add to a person’s sense of well-being, according to the study.
______
The United Health Group’s study also found that 76% of people who volunteered said it made them feel healthier. And studies have shown that volunteering can be good for your health.
For example, in 2013, Carnegie Mellon University studied a group of adults over 50 and found that if they volunteered for more than 200 hours in a year, they were less likely to develop high blood pressure(高血壓) than those who didn’t volunteer at all. In most cases, the hope of health benefits is likely an added bonus(福利) rather than the reason behind volunteering. Anyway, giving your time to a reason you care about is a win-win.
