Two boys had a fight in the street. One was small and used his hands like a true boxer(拳擊手). But the other boy was older and stronger. He used his hands, and his feet too! The smaller boy could not stop the kicks.

I happened in a small town in the USA in 1958. The smaller boy was Mulhammad Ali (then called Cassius Clay). He was 16 years old. He was the best young boxer in town. His friends called him "the King". Ali told them that one day he would be the best boxer in the world.

The bigger boy was Corky Baker. He was "King of the Streets". He thought that he was the best fighter in town. He told his friends, "I can win against Cassius Clay at any time." "Let's see you do it." said his friends.

One day Corky waited in the street. When Ali came along Corky stopped him. "Hi, Cassius!"  he said. "If you want to go down this street, you must pay me a dollar. Then you can go."

"I won't pay you any dollar," said Ali. That was how the fight started. Ali could not win against Corky in a street fight. Corky won the fight. Ali was afraid to go down that street again.

The other boys in the town laughed at Ali. "You'll never be the best in the world," they said. "You can't win against Corky Baker!"
