What was used for recording human’s feelings and thoughts in the early days? According to history book, people drew pictures on walls by using stones. These pictures showed what they did every day, such as planting crops or celebrating festivals. With time going by, people invented a better writing tool: the pencil. It first came into use in about the 16th century in England. Who invented the first pencil? Nobody knows exactly, but by 1662 a large number of pencils had been produced in Germany.

There are millions of inventions, large and small. Some of them have changed the world and helped to develop civilizations, such as the Four Great Inventions of ancient China--papermaking, printing, the compass and gunpowder. We still remember some inventors today for their great inventions, but we have forgotten others. For example, who made the first door lock?
